I’ve been meaning to post this recipe for a week now, but it’s crazy how hectic life can be. Living in Hawaii, away from most of my family, working from home… it’s pretty chill. My husband and I have really created a revitalizing environment, where the only thing that makes us busy is the activities we choose to participate in. Usually some sort of outdoor adventure or work out (other than our jobs), and the usual parenting duties. Being here, in Miami, with the hustle and bustle of the family business, driving from place to place to see all of my relatives and friends… finding the time to workout despite it all. Pheeeewww it’s been exhausting.
I Did The CrossFit
I have however stuck to my guns and found the time to workout. I actually did CrossFit for the first time ever! My aunt (Tia Yoyi) goes regularly. What a badass. So I have woken up at 5:15am the last two days and gone to her CrossFit 6am class. The first day we worked in pairs. What an awesome bonding activity with my aunt. We pushed a 400lb sled around the block, we rowed 600 meters. We did wall walks and burpess. And we kicked ass.
Today I finally learned the snatch and clean. I was so curious about that move. I squat and deadlift etc… but that thing. That jerking, weird looking movement… I hadn’t had the balls to try it myself. Glad I didn’t either. I needed quite a bit of instructions before I got it down pat. But the coach was soooo damn nice and so thorough. It was a fantastic experience. I finally settled on a 55 pound bar to do my reps with. I can handle more weight, but I was messing up my form with 65 pounds. But that’s just something new to practice and work on.
Anywho… it was awesome. I’m hooked.

This unusual combination has turned out to be my FAVORITE meal prep protein option! Yes. For real. It’s versatile and delicious, that kind of flavor that you don’t get sick of but also isn’t overwhelming. Try it!
- 2lbs ground turkey
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup almond butter, crunchy-unsweetened
- 1 tsp garlic salt, I use Redmond Real Salt
- 1/2 tsp onion salt, I use Redmond Real Salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp minced ginger (optional)
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots (optional)
- 1 tbsp fish sauce (optional)
- Pre-heat oven to 400F.
- Mix everything in a large bowl until thoroughly and evenly combined.
- Lightly grease a large baking sheet.
- Shape 4-6 ounce patties. Place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
